Prominent Nigerian entertainers have sparked major online debate after publicly criticizing the Presidency for failing to protect citizens amid escalating insecurity across the country.
In a strongly worded post, the artist Falz the badguy, accused the government of repeatedly neglecting its duty to safeguard lives and property, insisting that the leadership has “consistently shown an unwillingness” to take decisive action. He ended his statement with a bold call for the President to resign immediately.
The post also resurfaced an old comment made years ago in which the current President criticized a past administration for allowing parts of the country to fall under insurgent control.
The resurfaced quote, paired with today’s security challenges, has ignited nationwide discussions about accountability, leadership, and the government’s response to ongoing violence.
Falz’s sentiment was echoed by Debo Adebayo, a fellow entertainer and activist popularly known as Mr. Macaroni.
Similarly invoking Tinubu’s past social media posts, Mr. Macaroni quoted a 2013 tweet where Tinubu stated, “No responsible government permits its youth to suffer”.
