There had been a surge in the number of rape cases across the country. There was recently the case of Vera Uwa who was brutally raped and tortured. She was abandoned for death in a RCCG church for death. She later died in hospital after three days.

Now a three month old baby, Rukayya. OMG who in their right senses would hurt such a defenseless baby.

When this story came to me, i could barely get myself to write about it. A million questions were popping up in my head. Who would do such a thing to an innocent baby. Who would have the courage to penetrate such a delicate being. Where is the world heading? My questions are endless.

According to Rukaiya’s Mother, she was asleep when her daughter was taken away from her. “I fell asleep only to wake up and Rukayya was nowhere to be found,” Maimuna said. My phone which was supposed to be beside me, was also gone.

Rukayya was later found with blood all over her genitals. She had been abandoned in an uncompleted building.

Rukayya was immediately rushed to the hospital. She is currently receiving treatment at the Plateau State Teaching Hospital in Jos.

The Nasarawa Police Command, ASP Ramhan Nansel says the case was not reported. At this moment, there are no suspects and investigations are still going on.
