Latest on Hushpuppies arrest

Interpol Nigeria is making plans for Hushpuppie to be extradited to Nigeria for charges of fraud.

Popular Instagram Billionaire Raymond Igbalodely, popularly known as Hushpuppie, was arrested in Dubai. This happened on June 10, 2020. His arrest came barely three days after he posted a picture of his newly bought 2020 Rolls Royce Cullinan worth about N280 million. Interpol Nigeria, wants all Hushpuppies accomplices, arrested as well.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) INTERPOL, Garba Umar said:

“It is true that Hushpuppi was arrested by the INTERPOL. We are currently working on bringing him to Nigeria to face charges of fraud. Some of the offences were committed here in Nigeria and he has to answer for them. He is not alone in it; there are accomplices in the country who we are currently on their trail”.

Hushpuppie is known to display his wealth on social media. Fancy cars, brand name clothes, private jets and luxury lifestyle.

Why was Hushpuppie and friends arrested?

Hushpuppi allegedly hacked into the United States (US) unemployed database. He was equally impersonating American citizens, who qualified for unemployment benefits.

It is alledged, Hushpuppie and his accomplices are spread in different countries around the world. Some are in Nigeria, Dubai, Malaysia and other countries. They allegedly defrauded the US of over $100 million meant for Native Americans in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

If interpol wants to extradite him to Nigeria for crimes committed in Nigeria, what about those committed in the USA and other countries.
